Cotton Lawn vs Cotton Poplin:

Wash at 40˚ using non-bio liquid and wash the fabric before use, as it is likely to shrink. Iron using the appropriate setting for cotton on your iron. Dry naturally. or tumble dry on a low setting.

We recommend to always wash your fabric prior to starting your sewing project

“Poplin, also known as tabbinet, is a plain-weave cotton fabric with very fine horizontal “ribs,” or yarns, that results in a strong, crisp fabric , lustrous surface. Poplin is commonly used in men's and women's shirts, women's dresses, and items like sportswear and raincoats..”

Baby safe inks are used to print directly on the cotton, and the reason a lot get

confused, you need to wash poplin when it's printed as it has a special coating

to permanently stick the ink on to the fabric, it's fully washable as it's treated

to be colorfast. Every image will have a different finish, purely down to the amount

of ink applied in print, unlike screen printing, digital lays it on top not in the fibers

then that special coating is activated and then we have a full on colour fast product.

What is poplin?

Poplin, also known as tabbinet, is a plain-weave cotton fabric with very fine horizontal “ribs,” or yarns, that results in a strong, crisp fabric with a silky, lustrous surface. Poplin is commonly used in men’s and women’s shirts, women’s dresses, and items like sportswear and raincoats. The word “poplin” originates from the French term “papelino,” and is a variation of the word “papelaine,” an obsolete fabric with a similar weave.

When should I wear poplin?

Since poplin is such a commonplace, staple fabric, you can find poplin in a variety of clothing items that you can wear throughout the year. Both women’s and men’s shirts are made with poplin, as well as women’s dresses and skirts, and men’s pants and jackets. It’s a versatile fabric with a subtle sheen that adds beauty to any piece of clothing.
